I did not have a lot of experience in the beginning, so I learned a lot. I am still struggling with some stuff, but still I improved. I would say every tool we used was my first time using. The tools are definitely useful in a company. I liked the presentation a lot. So, I also could see what the others are interested in. For people like me it is hard to present on a topic, where I did not have a lot of knowledge. But researching about the topic was fun and I think that is also the best way to learn.
I kind of enjoyed the course. Sometimes it was too hard for me and then it was exhausting, because I had a lot of time figuring stuff out. As an exchange student it is hard to do so much for the course. I mean I think the workload is fine, unless you do not have a lot of knowledge, as in my case.
I think for beginner you can maybe give also other resources to practise just for them and they only have to do it if they want to. Other than that I think the course is structured very well.
I would recommend it to people who also have a lot of knowledge and are not lazy, but to the others I think it would be hard.

Course review:
Quite overwhelming sometimes, fast-paced packet of data security essentials.
4/5 content, 5/5 teacher & lectures
Personally I don't like the cross evaluation aspect of homework but demoing homework during lessons is great.
Could have had a bit less of "hacking and penetrating" and more of how to do better security and how to do log/network monitoring for example instead.
I learned a lot and figure it's hard to fit everything in such a short package of a course.
On this course I've learned so many new things. Which I did not even expect to be part of that course. It is literally full of information for the short time the course actually is. I would say it was very well served and we were able to practice accordingly.
Great presentations every lesson. Reports are quite time consuming, but the value this set brings is huge.
I would say that it has to be presented and structures differently for people with different background and experience, but even in this format it is a great course. And I would suggest it to everybody.
Tero Karvinen is very interesting person, full of information and is willing to share it. Very energetic and dedicated.
The course was highly engaging and interactive. The topics were interesting and unique. I found the 6 hour lectures quite excessive. I also didn't realise this was an intensive course (a short 5 credit course), but it may have been mentioned and I just missed it. Overall, a positive experience and a good class atmosphere.

Very good course, Tero as a teacher is really energetic and really cares about what he is teaching. Good balance between technical hands on stuff and theoretical reading. Quite demanding course, making the reports takes hours and hours but that shouldn't be an issue if you are interested in the topic.
Really liked the system that we went through the previous week's homework at the beginning of the next lesson and the students themselves presented what they had done.
Would recommend the course to anyone interested in data security.
Learned a lot of new things about data security both in theory and in practice. Things I learned will be useful in the future and now that I know where to look for information I can keep up with new advances in data security. Everyone working in IT should complete this or a similar course. Interesting topics and demos. Thank you!

This was a very informative course. The topics were well chosen and each lecture provided useful information. I enjoyed the course a lot and would recommend it to other students that follow the path of ICT infrastructure. Tero Karvinen was very sympathetic and elaborated each concept well for beginners. I think that the interactive part (groupwork and presentation) was one of the most useful aspects and a better replacement for an exam. The Moodle pages may need improvement as they weren't structured nor provided information (e.g., implementation plan with schedule, course description, report submissions, ...).
Thank you for the course!

This course is packed with a good amount of knowledge and hands-on practical tasks. All in all, a very nice experience to explore Data Security world. Thank you for the course!

Well structured lectures and overall course. Introduction to a wide array of tools, methodologies and concepts. A fair share of tasks to complete on a weekly basis to prove concepts introduced are clear. Enjoyed it, thanks!
