Overall a good course that I would recommend for others, too. We had a lot of freedom when it came to choosing our project and its scope. Our group learned a lot about IoT -related subjects during this course and what it takes to manage a longer project in terms of time management for instance.
— Atro Lindell, 2021-12-10Excellent course for advanced students. The teachers give the right amount oversight and freedom during the project. Time management and planning, which is discussed in the beginning of the course will most likely help the project to be kept in a reasonable scope, avoiding going too far beyond time and abilities. On the other hand the teachers do encourage to go outside of comfort-zone to reach new heights, which resulted in learning a lot of valuable skills. After presenting the work for the class and teaches, the advice given was extremely useful for future improvements for similar projects.
— Otto Punkari, 2021-12-10Learned about project workflow, scheduling, and about my project subject. The course gave free hands on the implementation of the project, and weekly meetings with teacher guidance gave a lot of good direction and advice. Overall a good course, and I would recommend taking it if working in projects is of interest even slightly!
— Toni Kerttula, 2021-12-10Overall I enjoyed the course. It was well implemented. We had good freedom to come up with a project we wanted to create but also guidance from the teachers when in sticky situations.
Our IoT-Dispenser group learned a lot about ESP32 programming and things related to that.
Overall the course is good and I would recommend it to any students looking for a more demanding course.
The course had too much mandatory documentation and weekly meetings, a lot of time we had for the project went into the documentation alone.
Also there should be a possibility for a proper way to give anonymous feedback on these courses.
Otherwise a fine course.
1. Learned: Backend skills, how to use FastAPI to construct an API. We used React and Python, docker
2.Fastapi and docker was new
3.Feedback and guidence are great
4.The course is great, no need to improve from my point of view
5.Today's presentations are good.
6.I am going to use the skills to build personal website.
7.Yes, I would recommend this course to others
Learned a lot of new things related to IoT such as how continuous rotation servos work and fundamentals C++ language. most of the things used in our project were used for the first time/learned how to do it while doing it. Feedback guidance was helpful in a lot of questions we had during our project.
Going forward it would be helpful to get access to the finished projects a bit earlier to get more time to figure out your project.
I would highly recommend this course to every student in HH. 5/5
The course worked really well with weekly meetings. I feel like the advice we got was really useful every week, and now that we've come to the end of the course and our project is done, that we've actually achieved something. First I thought that weekly meetings were just a waste of time, but those actually helped a lot with us finding a proper direction for our project. In the end we finished it in time and I'm quite happy with what we achieved.
— Jesse Hirvassalo, 2021-12-10For the project we have created an online bookstore and throughout the process i always got meaningful and specific feedback. I learned to use many new tools/technologies/libraries like FastAPI, docker-compose, PayPal and will probably use these new skills for any jobs that i might get in the future. In fact i have already discussed our project in a job interview so it has already helped me. Would recommend the course for anyone who wants to really put all their skills together in big project.
5/5
The course implementation was really good. I liked the approach but I would focus more on giving the "projecters" more freedom by cutting down on the mandatory weekly meetings.
Apart from that I really liked the course.
